Guest House Renovation

Modern Guest House Renovation

Clem Carpentry was engaged to complete a renovation of an existing room into a more functional and comfortable self-contained guest house. At the initial consultation we determined the main requirements of the renovation for the new room and designed a construction brief around the key elements determined by the client consisting of; utilise available space more effectively, modern contemporary with clean lines, functionality for each area with an overall cohesive feeling of warmth and comfort.

Our designers went to work immediately redesigning the layout, colour scheme and removing walls on our design system, delivering a new room with sleek, modern and clean lines, with a neutral colour palette and a feeling of openness and space ensuring that storage was taken care of. Clem Carpentry presented our proposed renovation and layout to the clients which was met with great approval and given the green light.

Our team immediately went to work on the renovation. We began by removing a dividing wall to create one large space with open flow.

The bathroom received a full make-over, completely stripped back to its bones. Re-routing of plumbing and ensuring that the wiring was up to code we proceeded to re-plaster the walls and waterproof the shower area. Due to the limited space in the bathroom a simple colour palette of white tiling, floor to ceiling was selected. Finishing touches included chrome fixtures and the installation of a German-made sliding door with an industrial, yet sleek feeling.

To create a focal point, with a sense of drama and texture we installed slate tiles with hints of reds and purples creating warmth. This was the drawing point for our entire colour palette throughout the space. The walls in the bedroom received a lovely shade of white complimenting the slate tiles perfectly.

To rectify the storage conundrum the back wall had custom cabinetry installed floor to ceiling. This served to create the illusion of space. In keeping with the neutral palette a grey/purple colour tone was chosen for the cabinetry picking up perfectly on the tones in the slate flooring. A fully functional laundry including a hidden ironing nook was incorporated into the body of the cabinetry as was a small yet useful kitchenette.

The “before” and “after” transformation was spectacular to be a part of and watch unfold. We successfully fulfilled the desire for efficient use of space and storage beyond the clients expectations through the use of intelligent carpentry” and innovation. Clem Carpentry take great pride in the work we produce ensuring that only the highest quality of materials are used and that we fulfil clients briefs every time.

We hope you like the transformation as much as the owners and we do. For information on how we can assist you please contact us during business hours Monday to Friday on 1300 400 431
